July 6, 2002
Our annual July 4th party turned out to be a great event. Planned for the day was a drive up Mt. Hamilton, a quick stop at the Lick Observatory and down the other side of the mountain looping back to Pleasanton and then begin the party.
Our drive began with everyone meeting at the Embassy Suites in Milpitas. The run up Mt. Hamilton got off to a great start until we caught up to a Sheriff SUV taking its time going up the mountain. We eventually made it to the top and were able to make a pit stop to rest up and prepare for the second part of the drive. When at the top of the Summit (Lick Observatory), you have a spectacular view of the south bay.

We got underway and took a rather spirited drive down the other side of Mt. Hamiton. Plenty of twisties, even some 1st gear corners. This side of the mountain is DEFINITELY more fun to drive with less traffic being quite evident. We were at midpoint on our second run and stopped for another pit stop to let everyone cool down a bit. It was rather a hot day and after a very spirited drive, Ben Lin pointed out that the cooling fan in his NSX engine compartment was actually working! I've never seen my fan come on and many other NSX owners state the same. Well, a photo below shows living proof that is DOES work. 1995 NSXs to present don't have this cooling fan.
We finished the last leg of the drive and arrive at Kirby's residence to unwind and begin the party.
Kenji's green NSX, May's purple NSX-T and Ken's silver NSX with a Wings West spoiler.

Thumbs Up!
Thanks to Kirby and Helen Drysen for taking care of all the arrangements
and opening their home to hold our annual party!
