May 6-8,1999
NSXPO 1999 was held in Monterey, California, at Laguna Seca Raceway. Day 1 activities included
a country drive, the 17 Mile Drive tour later that afternoon concluding with an official welcome dinner.
Day 2 was the NSX Concours sponsored by Zymol held in the infield lot near Turns 2 & 3.
Kent Shepley from American Honda held a very informative seminar on NSX tech innovations.
Also featured was a high performance driving seminar by a Skip Barber instructor.
Karting events for drivers signed up for the driver's school were going on all day with Acura serving
lunch for all attendees. The day concluded with a dinner at Fort Ord where Concours winners were announced.
Day 3 was the official start of the Drivers School. Karting events were ongoing for all attendees of NSXPO.
There were many vendor displays including those from Zymol, Dali Racing, Comptech, RM Racing, Zymol,
and several others. Acura was nice enought to host another lunch for all of us. The day concluded with our
gala dinner where thanks were expressed to all that made NSXPO possible and to all the vendors that
sponsored this wonderful event. Many accessories donated by our NSX vendors were given away
in a drawing and all the organizers for NSXPO were given Zymol "packages" thanks to Chuck Bennett.
Day 4 was the second day of the Drivers School. Many NSXs were zipping around the track as students
were learnig how to drive their NSXs on this world class race track. I'm sure it's an experience they will not
forget. A Driving Dynamics Excercise was also being held. NSX owners were given the opportunity to drive
their cars in an event similar to an autocross. Learning car control, throttle steering, and using the ABS system
while in a turn was the key. All of this done with TCS off! I myself wound up running this excercise over six times!
Vendors were present as well displaying the many NSX parts available. Acura was also there to serve a
Mother's Day Luncheon. Kudos to Acura! NSXPO officially came to a close. Until next year!
