This meeting by far the largest one to date! This was the event to show off our NSXs!

The NSX Parade Lap of San Francisco.

Everyone showed up bright and early at the Marin Green parking lot which is in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It was an awe inspiring sight seeing NSX after NSX fill the parking lot. On final count, there were 40 NSXs in attendance!

Harry Somerfield put this event together and had a pre-planned course that we all were to stick to. The route was carefully chosen with as few left turns and clutch-killing hill starts as possible, but with many vistas as possible.

Harry Somerfield called all drivers to order. We had a mini-meeting to make sure everything was in synch. There were professional photographers on hand to take pictures of every owner with their car at predetermined photo stops. Los Gatos Acura also was there following at the back of the parade just in case someone ran into any problems with their cars and to keep drivers from getting separated from the parade.

Everyone roared their NSX engines to life and gathered into a straight line to start the parade lap. The first stop was at the Palace of Fine Arts. We then proceeded to Lombard street, the "Crookedest Street In The World." By this time we were taking many turns and our parade was getting spread apart so everyone caught up near a long strech of road near the Presidio. Once everyone was accounted for, we proceeded to drive through the Presidio to our next stop right above Crissy Field. There was the longest train of NSXs to be seen with the San Francisco Bay in the background!

The next significant place the NSX parade arrived was at the Palace Of The Legion Of Honor Fountain. Since there were practically no cars in the area at the time, it was possible to start lining up NSXs one behind the other. Once one complete loop of NSXs was made, another was started so there were to rows of NSXs around the fountain! Doug Hayashi got the "special" spot in front of the Palace for a nice picture.

The Northern California NSX Club Portait

Can you believe this is a result from an intitial gathering of seven NSX owners
just nine months after the club formed?

Everyone enjoyed staying at the Legion Of Honor Fountain that we were there for little more than an hour. But the event wasn't far from over. We all continued on our parade lap out of San Francisco and in the direction of Daly City heading towards Golden Gate Acura. We were all greeted with big hanging signs saying "Welcome NSX Club Members" as the dealership was preparing a special BBQ for everyone. Everyone arrived at the dealership and filled the lot with tons of NSXs. I don't think ANY Acura dealership had this many NSX on their premesis at one time. On display was a Comptech supercharged NSX as well as a yellow IndyCar (I believe it was Gil DeFerran's Penzoil car from the Hall IndyCar racing team).

This was the perfect time for everyone to meet each other and have some time to relax and socialize! While all this was going on, Golden Gate Acura was hosting a raffle and providing everyone with "goodie bags" which included an NSX screen saver for your computer, a mug, and keyring. There were also many NSX accessories, apparel, and the rare NSX book (NSX: Technical Information and Development History) available in the parts department.

This event was also a fundraiser for Muscular Distrophy. Approximately $580 was raised for this cause. Way to go!

A nice assortment of NSXs.
