3rd Annual Tour de East Bay
The third annual Tour de East Bay was a great success. There were a total of 16 NSXs that made the drive. Many new members showed with their NSXs and were eager to participate in their first driving event. The plan was to drive some backroads wiht many curves leading to a lunch at Keith Jarret's place in the East Bay.
Before the story continues, one thing must be covered. Below are the first photos of the elusive and much talked about 2000 Monaco Blue Pearl NSX to be seen through my camera lens. The photos are accurate in depicting the actual color of the car. Compared with the Monte Carlo Blue of the '97-'99 NSX model years, the new 2000 blue is a bit lighter with and of a slightly different shade to jazz it up. In the NSX catalog, the color swatch doesn't do justice. The photos below do!
Photos in this gallery were taken by both Vytas Banionis and Gary Berger.

Several members arrived early to have some time to socialize and check out some new stuff on others' NSXs. The workers at the Embassy Suites Hotel were looking down on the parking lot from about 10 floors up. They were not believing their eyes! They welcomed our cars in their parking lot with open arms. All of us were happy to meet again as well as welcoming a few new members and enthusiasts to the club. Keith Jarett then began a drivers meeting describing the route and what we may expect on the drive. With the driver meeting behind us and radios in hand, the Tour de East Bay started to roll.
The drive got underway without a hitch other than one 91 silver (mine!) getting sideways on a turn. No problems. The car recovered as expected without incident. We drove the route enthusiastically and spotted a few "spankies" towards the end of the fun route but they kept their cool and watched the NSX parade go by. We then cruised the hills heading towards Lafayeete observing the spectacular city views. We took over a complete turnout to the surpise of a few guys in their car who just were blown away to see nearly a million dollars worth of cars pull up right next to them. We all continued on the route to find ourselves at Keith Jarett's residence. With 16 NSXs, we filled up the arch shaped driveway to capacity as well as the small street below the driveway.
A very impressive "collection" of cars.
I'd say this is one of the largest collection of NSX collectables ever seen. Included are various books, shirts, NSX luggage (no photo), clocks, leather wallets, a watch and many many more.
Views of Keith Jarett's NSX in a picturesque location of his driveway. Nice surroundings and a great backdrop!
The NSX's 10th anniversary chocolate and coconut cakes were on hand for the party.
The two F-16s (check the certified ID plates) and their pilots.
Thanks to Keith Jarett for orgainizing this great event!
